With movies like Lion and Slumdog Millionnaire clicking big at the Hollywood box-office, more and more makers are coming forward with subjects involving Indian actors.

One such movie to go on floors soon is Eastern Crimes having an Indian actor as a co-lead. initiated by a California based production house NeuAsia Studios, who has announced the launch of a $30 Million film revolving around organ harvesting set in India and US. The plot has an American cop who joins forces with an Indian cop to investigate the disappearance of his niece and its connection to a New Delhi crime syndicate's global organ harvesting operation. Staying true to the setting, the film will star an Indian actor and an American actor in the lead as cops who are attempting to bust the racket.

The film is currently titled Eastern Crimes and is touted to be a through and through action flick. The script is written by Mansur Ahmed (Mansur's recent Co-scripted "The Treasure of Ali Baba and The 40 Thieves" just got Martin Campbell as Director known for directing Casino Royale). It is rumoured that Jason Statham, from the Transporter's series fame, has been finalized as Genova, the American lead. Peter Weir, Director of Truman Show, Dead Poets Society has shown a keen interest in directing the film. The Indian lead is going to be played by ex-TV serial actor Rakshak Sahni, who was known for starring in Kavyanjali and Kasauti Zindagi Ki in India. Bollywood actor Rakshak Sahni who began his career in the Indian film industry, playing the lead in Kavyanjali on Star Plus, will play a parallel lead with a yet-to-be-finalized American star in this Hollywood feature film about two cop buddies.

"It's rare that a role is written for an Indian actor to play a parallel action hero opposite a leading American actor in a major Hollywood production. So when Mansur Ahmed sent me the script of Eastern Crimes, it immediately got me excited," says Rakshak who is confident that the movie will be a milestone in his career. It's expected to begin shooting in mid-2018.

What's more! The makers are in talks with none other than six-time Oscar-nominated director Peter Weir to direct the film. Weir is known for great Hollywood blockbusters such as The Truman Show, Dead Poets Society and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

Wishing all the best for Rakshak Sahni to make Hollywood recognise Indian talents in a big way.
