Dr. BabaSaheb Ambedkar Municipal School lift KBD Juniors trophy in Mumbai with final score of 33-7

Assert domination in the final match against Dhirubhai Ambani International School

#LePanga moment for Dr. BabaSaheb Ambedkar Municipal School as they go on an unbeaten run to clinch the trophy KBD Juniors – Mumbai Champions, beating 3 other schools from Mumbai. The matches were shown on Star Sports network.

In a test of strength and passion for kabaddi, KBD Juniors, an invitation-based kabaddi tournament, played between top schools across 12 cities of the ongoing VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5 saw its Mumbai chapter unfold at the Dome@NSCI, SVP stadium. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Municipal School won the coveted trophy by defeating Dhirubhai Ambani International School – 33: 7 in the finals to emerge victorious in the Mumbai Leg.

KBD Juniors is a concerted effort to salute India's home grown sport and celebrated with children across the host cities of ongoing VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5. Every city teams from 8 schools are invited to experience the sport that has made Anup Kumar and Rahul Chaudhari household names and Heroes of Kabaddi. It is a golden opportunity for school students to not only have a feel of the international standard mat but also experience playing at a professional level where ‘Heroes of Kabaddi’ play.

Dr. BabaSaheb Ambedkar Municipal School were up against Cathedral and John Connon School, while Dhirubhai Ambani International School took on Campion School in the semi-finals.

Among participating schools in the KBD Juniors were Cathedral and John Connon School, G.D. Somani Memorial School, Aditya Birla World Academy, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Campion School, Jamnabai Narsee School, St. Peter’s School, and Dr. BabaSaheb Ambedkar Municipal School

With families, principals, teachers and friends turning up to support the kids, every raid and tackle was met with thunderous applause, inspiring the kids to play with more confidence on the mat.  

Speaking on KBD Juniors, a STAR India spokesperson said, "KBD Juniors is our endeavour to take Kabaddi to every nook of India. The response received so far from Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and now with Mumbai leg coming to an end is overwhelming. We hope to inspire the millions of kids to start playing Kabaddi".

With champions in Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and now Mumbai, KBD Juniors will move to Kolkata for the face-off between 8 schools to be crowned KBD Juniors – Kolkata Champions.
